I'm staying with the parents and I've just defrosed a pack of prawns with a best before date of 2007. They've been in the freezer the whole time, so risk of food poisoning is low, and it's to add to a fish pie so with any luck this will mitigate the inevitable loss of flavour.

They smell fine.

However, would it be bad on moral grounds to feed them to the family?

Chances are they'll be fine from a food safety point of view if the bag was still sealed etc. From a taste perspective though they will have deteriorated and the texture will be softer than it would have been. Should be fine in a pie.

Or a chowder or something. Shoe leather is edible if you boil it for long enough.

Defrost. Eat straight out the bag. It is the way of winners.

Barracuda are very good eating But depending on what they have been eating can be very poisonous.a friend who fishes alot in the Carribean came up with a solution which the locals loved.take your barracuda, cut him in half, freeze one half and give the other half to the mother in law, wait a week if shes still alive eat your frozen half.

Might as well, I wouldn't risk it either.
