Has anyone got a recommendation for a nice country pub around Sheffield?

I'm driving up from London and the former Mrs Dom9 is driving down from Middlesbrough way, so Sheffield is sort of halfway to meet at.

Anyone know somewhere, maybe not too far off a motorway/ main road that does nice food and is a bit old school/ country pub-like?

Thanks in advance! On the Blackberry so apologies for the short, non-descriptive post!

traditional pub with good food, dogs welcome, walking boots welcome, in the peak district about 20 mins from Sheffield centre so 30-35 mins fom M1, country house a mile or so away you can walk to

I'm local and know mainly the SW side of town, so my tips are for here. Coming from the south J29 is the best exit, from the North J36 best bet to avoid crossing town, though this week the traffic is OK.

Cricket Inn, Totley, S17 - gastro pub on edge of Peak, J29 for you, J33 for her

at Bradfield there are several: Old Horns Inn (stunning location & views), Nags Head (owned by local Bradfield Brewery, by Dam Flask reservoir), The Plough (close to Lower Bradfield & Dam Flask)

Peacock at Owler Bar, a chain pub but nice fires

Others

At Wortley there's a popular pub on the corner of the main road, can't remember its name but you cant miss it (J36 both of you)

Bolsterstone Village is very traditional, bit out on a limb but great scenery, few pubs there, quiet lanes, ahem...
