There used to be a Chinese restaurant that pretty much overlooked the runway at City airport.

Walk out of front of Excel, past the hotel and it's on your left somewhere. Sorry can't recall the name but a bit of googling will probably find it.

It was a while back that I went there, and it was not bad at all as far as I recall.

Just over the DLR from Excel is http://www.customhouse-hotel.co.uk/ and there's a good chinese restaurant within the hotel - other than that no idea as we usually pop to Canary Wharf

Nakon Thai opposite the Crowne Plaza (you'll see the neon pink sign just near the flyover) is pretty good. Try the lamb with herbs.

Pop into Canary Wharf, only 2 or so stops on the DLR and lots of choice there
