He is taking 8 kids and showing them, and us, just what it takes to be a really top class person front of house.

Bet it makes a lot of people more appreciative of good waiting staff and an understanding of the various roles and perhaps why they exist.
Some, but not all, of these kids come across as a bit... would it be too sniffy to say "common?"
Michel Roux and his ex employee, the maitre d' chap, don't take any nonsense; bet it's the first time in their lives some of these kids have ever been told to behave or do as they are told by someone who a) means it and b) has the authority and bearing to carry it off. At least by a person not in possession of a warrant card and a pair of cuffs.
Be interesting to see where it goes, at times cringeworthy for many reasons, one example due to the basic inability of the kids to pronounce foreign words that they have already had explained to them. Poor listeners.
Quite liked Michel Roux already, but so far very impressed with his style and manner he is coming across very well.

The Mrs and I watched this last night and enjoyed it. It was particularly amusing when one of the girls asked a table if they would like a glass of prosciutto rather than prosecco!
I also felt a bit sorry for the young guy who spent half the evening trying to hide from his customers. I used to work as a waiter for a brief period and hated it. The more time during service I could spend in the kitchen, the better!

It makes me furious this programme as both Fred and Michel have said some of them just have zero respect. Jerome pissed me off from the moment he was introduced on the show, unless he grows up he deserves his future which will obviously amount to nothing.
I really admire Michel roux - seems like a really genuine guy but i think 2 or 3 of the group would be better with Marco Piere giving them a good shoeing! lol

Thought he handled kicking Jarel off really well, in terms of when the others came to him about his decision, he was very firm but instead of just saying "What I say goes" but put the onus back on the others by essentially saying "Now I'm relying on you guys!" and made them go away with positivity.
I can understand why he kicked Jerome off, but since he was sounding off outside work and out of earshot of the punters, it seems a little harsh.
(FYI, I've not been to Itihaas yet, but friends have been and have said it's amaaaaazing)

She blames her circumstances on everything, so what?? Do something about it. When she has the attitude i want to reach into my TV and punch her!!! t, blaming everyone else for her choices and mistakes in life. There's some promise there, a couple of them need to rein in on a few things but i reckon Ashley will be the diamond in the rough as long as he takes on board any criticisms and works on it.
All very interesting though, just a shame more people don't go into that profession from the UK, i know people that have made alot of money and been given ample opportunities to do well, clients buying restaurants and going into partnership, we all have to begin somewhere...

They seem to do a decent job in one place, then cock up in another. Yesterday they couldn't remember left from right and started squabbling again.
Some had problems with the big hotel because the clients were wealthy - yet had they been celebrity footballers and pop singers I suspect they'd have been fine... deny it if you like but it's called 'class'.

Episode before a mention that footballers will be going into Heathcote's place in Alderley Edge and the faces just lit up!
I'm still not writing Nikkita off yet, but agreed that she's starting to grate, started a while ago actually. Leopards - spots.

I'm running an episode behind but that place really grated with me. It was the first time that Michel changed the emphasis from service to let's screw the customers for as much as we can get out of them, and that chimed with the place -some nasty customers, some seriously over-priced food, nasty chav decor and style. Felt like the ethos was these punters have more money than class/taste let's take them for what we can (I'm exaggerating to make the point)On a related but different point, I hate going to restaurants where what's on the menu isn't a meal i.e. you have to buy "side dishes" to make a complete plate - it's blatantly a way of disguising the price. Much better to say "steak is £15 - with chips or potatoes, salad or veg" - simple and honest. Then if you want a side order of garlic bread or whatever on top then fine (you fat b
d).I also hate the OTT concept of "personalised service" you get in places like that - I don't want to be greeted like an old friend, or patronised when ordering, "Oh, what a good choice!", (inviting the response "Why, is some of this stuff crap then???"). I prefer attentive but unobstrusive staff, respectful rather than "have you ever been to a restaurant before?", and genuine rather than fawning "would you like to suck my tits with that?"
