Hello,

I am looking to purchase a bottle of chilli sauce that is closest to the standard kebab house sauce.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I am not looking for recipes.

Thanks

Welcome to PH, a slightly odd first post, smile maybe ask at the kebab shop? They might sell you a bottle

Why don't you ask the kebab house? Or just smother whatever you're eating with this -

ETA, what is 'the standard' kebab house chilli sauce? Don't they differ from house to house?

I occasionally buy my favourite chilli sauce in a litre bottle from the kebab house. Freeze it in smaller bottles and use on kebabs bought locally, as my favourite shop is in Surrey, and I am in Dorset.

Can't say I've had a truly good chilli sauce from a kebab house for a fair old while, most of them taste like cheap salsa

Can't say I've ever had the same chilli sauce at any two different kebab houses ever.

In Liverpool, I find the kebab house chilli sauce very similar.

I have never got close from a shop bought bottle - I wondered if anyone else had?

Try Sriracha, an Asian (Vietnamese) chilli sauce. Should be able to find it in most decent specialist stores (I think the brand with the chicken on is the best one).

it really does depend what your kebab shop uses. my local (who knows me) uses curry sauce (like katsu curry) and has a chili sauce that is more mild and tomatoish, more like a proper kebab.

The other kebab after that uses a chili sauce that is orange in colour, and has lots of bits in it, u can clearly see its made from chopped u chilies and scotch bonnets.

there are loads of different kinds.
