I am currently nibbling on some Lindt chocolate with sea salt.

It's really very pleasant.

I'm also fond of the chilli chocolate from the same manufacturer.

What can you recommend?

the sea salt sounds intriguing. i am constantly disappointed by chilli chocolate - all heat and no flavour from the chilli.

you can get bars of dark choc & lavender from sainsbury. it's quite interesting.

charbonnel et walker do boxes of rose & violet creams, but these aren't so reasonably priced! the violets taste like chocolatey parma violets smile

our local coffee shop suggests a pinch of salt when you get a hot chocolate, apparently it brings out the flavor. i don't put salt on anything since the heart issues so never tried it to see if thats true

Dolfin do a really nice hot masala chocolate that's subtle but quite effective.

A lot of their others are rather nice too.

For me a real treat has to be the Artisan du Chocolat salted caramels, a restaurant served a selection of their chocs in a delightful antique box with coffee at the end of a meal, I've been hooked ever since.

They also do a tobacco chocolate that is quite pleasant.

This is more like it - some of these sound well worth a try.

Tried some Marmite flavoured chocolate over Christmas. It was definitely interesting, although I wouldn't go so far as to say it was terrifically pleasant.

Bit of a pretentious name and bloody expensive but it tastes good.

I saw that in a shop on Sunday, I'm not a fan of Marmite anyway but couldn't imagine combining it with chocolate would help vomit

Have any of you tried the Cocoa Bean Chocolate Co stuff? I keep meaning to have a go with the Gin & Tonic and Lime & Black Pepper but they never have them in stock when I go to the shop I've seen them in.

(They do a sea salt one too)

How about matching good quality chocolate with whisky?

85% cocoa with a heavily sherried dram, like a 33yo Glendronach

White chocolate with a really salty, peaty Islay like Ardbeg Corryvreckan.

I had some of that too. Really really liked it.

So much so I accidentally ate the whole lot without sharing any of it!

I got some of this Marmite chocolate for Mrs Dibble for Christmas, as she likes both chocolate and Marmite:

Not together, it would seem. I like it though. It smells stronger than it tastes (a bit like cinnamon toast always does). Although it smells Marmitey, it doesn't taste that way - it tastes salty and chocolatey at the same time.

Another vote from me for the Dolfino range - they do an earl Grey flavoured one which is also very nice.

hurl I hate parma violets. Have been asked to make some violet creams, so it'll mean tasting them. Feel sick already at the mere thought.
