Took a trip down to Laverstoke park farm shop (owned by Jody Scheckter!) at the weekend and stocked up the freezer. Bought plenty of Sausages (Smokey bacon and Pork, Smokey Bacon and Buffalo being exceptionally good.) Their bacon and sausages are all organic and nitrate free too. Not easy to find nowadays.

Also picked up some excellent Buffalo rump steaks. We've not had this before so cooked it as per normal but then rested it for 10 mins instead of 5. It was delicious. Served with a bit of garlic and corriander butter on the side. I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Laverstoke is the discerning PHer's farmshop of choice! Love the sausages.

We get our veg delivered from Riverford farm but their meat is of varying quality and rather expensive. We will be switching to Laverstoke now for sure. (Although I still prefer the bacon from Windsor Farms, nothing beats it.)

Have tried this. Wasn't overly keen tbh.

Waitrose stock some of their range - the sausages and one or two other bits.

The mozzarella is nice too, and the buffalo milk ice cream is good, as is its biltong. A few years ago I had to go and photograph Jody Scheckter on the farm, and took some shots of him posing with the buffalo. They had mostly run off down the field as we went in, but some had stayed around in case he had food. As I took the shots I felt something touch my ear, and was surprised to find the rest of the herd had silently crept up behind me to watch what we were doing, fearful they were missing food too. Friendly and warm it may have been, but it gave me quite a shock to find a herd of buffalo towering right over me!

Maybe the water buffalo is the perfect animal? Friendly, productive, and tasty lick
