Discussion
Following on from the hilarity expressed over the 'Green s
t' on the photo of your dinner thread. Would anyone care to enlighten me as to what exactly this 'Green s
t' is for? I bloody hate vegetables, and only eat them on sufferance, I have to force myself, and add loads of seasoning, butter and maybe Mayo to make them palatable. And that's just the least 'horrible' of the vegetables, most of them are plain foul
And don't even get me started on salad. If I want/need vitamins, there are pills, much nicer, simpler and easier than force feeding yourself 'Green s
t' against your gag reflex simply because it's good for you.
So folks, pray do tell, what is it about this 'Green s
t', and what is it that you like about it?

I would quite happily just have a big bowl of roast veggies (peppers, courgette, red onion, mushrooms and garlic) for my tea.
Same here, as long as it has a big slab of meat with it.Penny-lope said:

And red cabbage is scrummy, and you can do funky stuff with the left over water. As for green beans...stick them in a curry, along with sweet potato and spinach.
(I have to stop now before I make myself hungry)

Have you tried roasted parsnips with mustard and maple syrup?

Or carrots and parsnips sliced lengthways, drizzled in olive oil and balsamic vinegar, seasoned and covered in fresh chopped rosemary and a splinkling of crushed fennel seeds.

I love vegetables!
Not as an adjunct to the main dish, or something that you're guilted into eating because they're Good For You, or because the Starving In Africa would chew off an arm to get their hands on your soggy broccoli, but as an event in themselves.
Vegetable deniers, visit Amazon for Yotam Ottolenghi's compendium of vegetable dishes (for the non-vegetarian), 'Plenty', and just get it.
