Packed Lunches
Discussion
Up until last week I bought lunch at work (about £5) but I have got so bored with the choices I have now resorted to taking my own sandwiches in. However I still probably spend at least £3 a day on the ingredients.
What the hell do you put in it to let it cost one pound?! tesco value bread and one slice of packet ham?!

Does your lunch really only cost you £1 though? I normally find if I make it myself it comes in at closer to £2 per day, whereas lunch in the local sandwich shop is about £3.
Yes, it's a saving, but the sandwich shop gets me greater choice and less hassle which is worth the £20 per month unless I'm really trying to save.

Smoked ham from Aldi - 1.79 for lots of slices
Bread - 79 per loaf
Brie from Aldi - 70p ish
Salad
Mustard
must be only 30p per day or somthing like that for 2 rounds of sarnies
Add some Crisps or snack'A'jacks not much more
Assuming that lot lasts you a week, and the salad and mustard costs you £1.70, then you are already on £1 per day, before you add any snacks. Bread - 79 per loaf

And I expect you will struggle to get 10 rounds of sandwiches out of that amount of brie and ham.
I make all of my own stuff and fruit is delivered bi-weekly to work free of charge so I just make a wrap or a sandwich and take some crisps and a cereal bar.
10 x Deli Wraps = £1.50 (75p per week)
Large pack Turkey/Ham = £2.00 (2 weeks worth)
Cucumber = £0.65
Tomatoes = £0.80
Pilgrims Choice Vintage Cheddar (Hand-cut) = £2.57 (2 weeks worth)
300g Coleslaw = £0.64
Cereal Bars x 9 = £2.10 (2 weeks worth)
Walkers Crisps x 24 = £3.70 (4 weeks worth)
£1.42 per day. Most people I work with spend around £5 per day just on lunch, and although the variety in the staff restaurant is very good and well cooked/reasonably healthy, I couldn't justify spending £100 per month just on lunch.
