Food processor and hand mixer - best combination?

We've got a hand mixer at the moment which we use for cakes etc, but we've been looking at getting a food processor to primarily help with chopping, but also things like dough making as they seem to make a decent job of it and I can't knead dough if my life depended on it.

So, is a processor with a hand mixer the best combination? Or should we be looking at a "big" mixer? I don't want a big mixer and a processor as they'd take up too much space.
