Good morning, i have the option through work to join the gourmet society for £2/month, have tried looking on their website but looks as though you need to have joined already to see the deals. is anyone on here a memeber or does anyone have any info about them, have used google and it seems split 50/50 as to whether its good or not with most complaints being placed on the customer service and auto renewal, which in theory shouldnt be a problem for me as my membership would be done through the company.

I have been on their website and there are quite a few restuarants near me which i use, but again without seeing the deals i'm struggling to find out if its worthwhile.

any thoughts appreciated (preferably on topic ones!)

Are you more likely to dine at "posh" restaurants, in which case the £24 annual premium can easy be "saved" in one dinner?
Their chain restaurant offers don't seem any better IMHO than those from MSE and the other voucher places on the other hand.

Bit of both really. It has some upmarket places on the list that we go to pike lambs at the market in Mansfield and masala in Derby. Both £60 meal places bit again no idea idea of what the offers are. I guess I should call the places and ask.

Typical offers were 25-50% off the food, or a free main course.

We had it for the 3 month trial, but didn't use it enough to warrant the £40 to keep it another year. Think the most we "saved" was £25 on a dinner.

Are you sure it was the Gourmet Society? They tend to send me foie gras e-mails smile

? our 6 month membership was 99p?

Not bad selection or restraunts.

We used it a Bell and the Dragon about 5 times in all with about 50-60 quid saving overall.

Anyone still using this? As with the OP, I have been offered membership for £2/mth.

Would appreciate your experiences - lots of places in my city seem to be on the register, I'm hoping all genuinely!

why not try the 3 months trial for £1- most deals exclude Friday and Saturday or come with conditions so not for me

It very much depends on if you go to places which do the offer and the dates they allow the card to be used. Weve had it since my post but this year not doing as the restaurants we used have come out of the scheme

IME it wasn't worth it. Generally the places I wanted to eat wouldn't accept it Fridays or Saturdays and excluded its use on specials like set menus or gastronomic events.

From my experience of it as a restaurateur it was a nightmare. Groups trying to use it people presenting it at the time of paying and not booking or booking and or mentioning it as is required by the scheme.

I use it every now and again but purely because I get it free through my bank.
I find it very limited with the restaurants around me because of what days they don't offer a discount or limited number of people the offer applies to.
