Just curious. I've lived in London all my life and wouldn't ever think about going, even though I love the stuff.

They used to be quite good back in the early 80s. But things have moved on, and sadly they haven't...

For some reason (I don't know why) I assume they're crap.

(Despite never having been to one.)

I could be very, very wrong.

They exist to part gullible tourists from their hard earned. You only have to look at where they are located to see that. And they're not cheap either.

There are far better places for a lot less cash.

I was one of those the only time I ate there, many many moons ago. And it was rubbish....

well i say ate, sent back mine as it was frozen in the middle, second one comes out still frozen, call over the waitress as i'm putting on my coat and state loudly "As your 'chef' can't even get this cooked all the way thro with 2 attempts we're leaving and no we are not paying"

she stammered and we walked smile

A couple of years ago, the steering committee & I booked a table at a local restaurant for by birthday meal. I chose the restaurant as - in the past - the food was simple but very well cooked and presented, and used where possible local ingredients (e.g. the best sausage & mash I've ever tried).

Anyway. We pitched up, only to find they had "re-branded" themselves as the ****** Inn Steakhouse. Worried glances aside, we walked in and got our table.

It was bloody awful. Their fish & chips, that was previously wonderful with light, crispy batter closely wrapping a thick fillet of haddock with some homemade mushy peas and chips, was now a thick greasy carapace surrounding a piece of small, un-specified fish that was frozen in the middle. Served with limp chips and a green paste with some buckshot in it. The previously delicious, and intriguing, Assiette of Puddings was now absent, as was any imagination in the menu.

Good choice of steaks, though rolleyes

Since then, I've got a hearty disinterest in any eating establishment that uses the word "Steakhouse" in their title.

Unless it's one that Adam Richman has visited and broadcast yes

I visited one close to Leicester Sq in my youth, I thought "how bad can it be?" and "surely a steak is the easiest dinner to cook". I was wrong on both counts.

No, never been. For the price, much better options out there. I'd rather Outback tbh.

Ah right I see. They way you worded it I thought you were referring to a place, as opposed to the restaurant.

Albeit Aberdeen isn't in the highlands wink

The combination of their location and the lack of people therein has drawn me to the conclusion that they must be some form of money laundering operation.
