London restaurant decision to be made...

The wife and I are staying in London over the weekend and I’ve left it a bit late to get a table anywhere decent. Really fancied Koffmans or The Square but no chance. Looking at The Greenhouse now and L’Atelier. The only thing with L’Atelier the table is a counter one are these any good? I just get the feeling it won’t feel that special or intimate.
The Square is over priced and not that good, in my opinion. Try the Dean Street Townhouse or Hix in Soho, for funky vibes and great food. Try Racine in Brompton Cross for classy old fashioned French. Rule's is touristy but despite that it is still good, and the upstairs cocktail bar has the best Martinis going. Another classy joint is La Petite Maison in Mayfair. You can have a drink and spot the upscale Russian hookers in Claridge's beforehand.
Ate at L'Atelier and had a fantastic meal.
Was staying at The Savoy and was left a little under whelmed by it if I'm honest. Had a couple of probelms with the room which didn't get sorted. Complained again this morning when checking out, was in a bit of a rush to get to a meeting so they are going to call me to discuss.

Isn't that the place with a bar and proper restaurant tables? Great tasting/tapas style stuff from Joel Robuchon?Was staying at The Savoy and was left a little under whelmed by it if I'm honest. Really enjoyed it. Had a counter table over looking the cooking area which I was not keen on at first but actually turned out to be very good. Great food and service and very laid back. Had a few drinks in the bar before and after too. I would go back in a second.Tell more??? Haven't been there yet.

You are right about the counter being the place to eat. I had not been before and was a bit dubious but had no need to be. Hibiscus is on the list, got offered a table there on Saturday but it was 6pm and too early for us.I do rate the Square, unlike one poster above.

Bringing a 5 month pregnant wife down with me to London on the 1st February for the weekend. Probably staying at Claridges or The Goring(unless anyone can suggest something similar?)
Anyway going to see a show on Saturday afternoon, so food wise I was thinking of Koffmann's Friday night, afternoon tea before show somewhere, then Hibiscus on Saturday night? Before I book are these places still on top form? It’s been a good 6 to 9 months since I ate out properly within London.
