So I find myself staying in London tonight and, because it's short notice, I'm away from my normal west end\city stomping grounds. I'm in a Best Western up near Paddington and could get into town easily enough but figure on trying somewhere different.

So who can recommend me somewhere to eat in the area within the £30 budget the company I'm working for allows. Two courses and a glass of red - classic english or french by preference but will try anything.

Lebanese is a bit off piste for me but I'll give it a go in preference to a steak house!

Too late but this would have been perfect http://thechapellondon.com/about-us.html 10 min walk.

Does very good food and decent beer.

Paddington is also only a 10 min walk from Notting Hill which has tons of great pubs....although there are quite a few good local boozers in Paddington itself...with the caveat that any pub within spitting distance of a mainline station is almost guaranteed to be st so you need to walk at least 5 mins!

And the area around Paddington Station has historically been pretty bad as it's an area very popular with ladies of the night.....or so I'm told. Lots of strange colours light bulbs in windows.....

and therein lies my reason to be there hehe

actually it was a the spot I had agreed to meet a woman I'd met on PoF... the closer we stayed to the station, the longer we had... crappy pubs... saw no red lights... honest

Cheers for the advice but work meeting overran and then had a couple of G&Ts before heading for the hotel so supper ended up being purchased in the M&S Simply Food on Paddington Station ....
