The whole series is a bit predictable in my opinion.

Starts off with a 'Heston' dish, weird, wacky, but probably very nice.
Then a slightly less 'Heston' dish, a quirky one, that is good, but not a sensible option either.
Then the final 'accepted' dish is a regular one, that everyone likes.

All the way through management moan about the whole lot, and at the end it all 'oh hasn't he done well etc etc'.

I don't have a problem with him, or the program, its just predictable, and so it has become boring. I even said to my other half about 5 mins in, it'll end up being a regular dish, nothing fancy, guess what? i was right.

Interesting to see the standard of Navy food though.

Seems to me that the Navy need to sort out this problem where people getting up for a night shift have to have a "breakfast" of a roast dinner. There is, of course, a simple solution: fry-up thrice daily. Where do I collect my cheque?

My reply could easily turn into a rant and a pretty vitriolic one as well.
OK the programme was "made for television" and as such has it's limitations to cater for the ratings.(excuse the pun)
Unfortunately original thinking is frowned upon nowadays.
Also it's sad that servicemen/women have the same budget as criminals.

Wholeheartedly agree Cotty. thumbup Good job. (But who should be doing it in the first place?)

I presume veggie food is out because it makes you fart, and you can't have a submarine full of H2S.

I thought this was a good episode, the commander was soooo pissed off when heston showed him the vacuum packed food.

I would loved to have been a fly on the wall during the conversation between the xo and the admiralty.

He was clearly impressed with hestons idea but really miffed that a 'celebrity' chef had suggested something so simple and practicle.

The only one that actually achieved something potentially useful as well so you haven't missed much!

Apparently they get lot less than a prisoners budget....
