Tipping delivery drivers...

i never tip them but i always wonder if i am supposed to.
we aren't Greedy, money hungry americans, so no. They all earn at least minimum wage.I rarely order delivery, as its always cheaper to just go collect it. But when I do, if the price is something like £14.50, I'll let them keep the change, or if I'm getting change from a £20 note, I'll tell them to just give me a fiver.

Delivery is free in most cases...I've noticed pizza boys hanging round for a tip. I wonder if they hang around their boss's office at the end of the week waiting for a tip?
Normally I’m happy to tip a pound or two, however I’ve now stopped after a terrible meal from Dominos . . .not only were two of the three Pizzas ordered undercooked, but they also forgot part of the order and refused to issue a refund for it!
Yes I know, it serves me right for using a franchise like Dominos, a lesson learnt and all that

depends on the place. Chinese places will tend to do free delivery for over £10. if you collect over £10, they'll give you a discount/give free wine/prawn crackers/sesame seed toast.Pizza imo is a good example of where it makes sense to just collect. If I order a XL/largest size pizza, it would cost £15-19, and take 1hour to arrive. If I turn up and order, it costs £8-10 and I just have to wait for 15minutes.

Bloody hell, I want to know where your pizza place is... HALF the price for collection? seriously? sorry, I just don't believe that...calibrax said:

Round my way, there are a couple where it's bogof if you collect. But there are deals for delivery, but they still end up being around 60% more expensive- granted its not double, but enough for me to get up off my backside and go collect.
indeed. In my area (london) if you go to the independant/lesser known Pizza places (pizza gogo, tgf or ones that do kebabs & chicken) they do BOGOF if you collect, or if you just want 1 pizza, you can get up to 50% off. Even the bigger places like dominos/pizza hut, if you collect, you can buy a pizza + 1-2 sides for the price of 1 pizza delivered.AndrewW-G said:

. . . . turns out that he runs a couple of the local franchises and had been on the receiving end of a b
king about the s
te standards of the food round here . . . .still didn’t stop him trying to do every single thing possible to not have to refund me for the food his staff didn’t even deliver!Oddly after a tiring day in the garden, we had pizza this evening . . . . .from Pizza Magic, greasy goodness and far better value than dominos (their loss as both businesses used to order from them when people are working late and they have now also been switched over)
