What are your favority BBQ recipes? Home made burgers? lamb kebabs? grilled sweetcorn? particular salads.

Perhaps we can ignore the Smoking side of thing (as we have a very informative thread on that already)- but what od you really like to do?

Rather than the traditional jacket potato, not that there's anything wrong with a jacket... But anyway, make foil parcels containing a few new potatoes, a shallot or two, a clove or two of garlic, possibly some leek rounds, baby carrots. Don't forget seasoning and some oil or butter. On the coals for 30/40 minutes. Marvellous.

Foreign sausages.

More specifically, Bratwurst and Boerewors. Absolutely brilliant on a BBQ.

Aside from slow cooked big meat joints which is largely what I use the BBQ for, not recipes but work really well:

Sweet potato slices about 2cm thick - likewise vegetable squash.
Naan bread, ready cooked warm up on high heat - fab.
Thin frying steak.
Bananas in skin, split with chocolate in them wrapped in foil, while you're eating all the meat, ready when you've done.

Potato and Boerewors Salad

Ingredients:
200 g new potatoes
• 2 tbsp olive oil
• 1 tbsp lemon juice
• 1 tsp wholegrain mustard
• pinch of paprika
• spring onion, chopped
• 1 red onion, finely chopped (optional)
• 500g Boerewors sausages, grilled (or cooked on a braai or gas BBQ)
• 4 tbsp Mrs Ball Chutney (South African chutney - the best ever)http://pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/imgs/2.gif

Method
1. Cook the potatoes in boiling salted water. Drain, cut in half and place into a large bowl.

2. Mix the olive oil, lemon juice and mustard together and stir this into the warm potatoes. Sprinkle with paprika.

3. Add the chopped spring onion and the red onion.

4. Slice the Boerewors, and arrange the slices over the top of the potato. Drizzle Mrs Ball's Chutney over the sausage and serve immediately.

This dish goes well with some roasted butternut and cherry tomatoes.

If this dish has got your mouth watering, then you need to visit our CrugaBiltong at http://www.crugabiltong.co.uk to order pack of Boerewors. They make the best sausage - honest!! http://pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/imgs/9.gif

Not really sure mate, we just get them from the OH's uncle who makes them himself. If you're into sausage making, we're going over there next week so I could get it for you?
