What did I just eat?
Discussion
Feeling hungry at work (I work in Tooting), and walking past the little Sri Lankan fast food shop a few doors down. I decided to stop in and pick something up for lunch.
I bought this thing, basically it was about the size and shape of a small brick. The outside of it was made of bread - almost like a thin naan - thicker than a wrap-type thing. Inside was what I would guess is a dryish potato and mutton curry type filling - lots of whole spices and REALLY hot, but very tasty. The whole think looked like it had been browned on a hot plate, or lighly fried. It was a bit like a samosa, but the filling was more curry like and the outside was bread rather than pastry.
Anyway, it was bloody delicious, the guy in the shop just said lamb when I asked, and he didn't know an english name for it. It cost a quid, and I think I have now found my new favourite lunch item. Does anyone know what it was?

that sounds like it i think. It's sort of rolled, but it really is a brick shape - about the size of a ribena carton. My lips are still zinging - was about a madras on the heat front - quite unexpected to have a hand-held snack thing that hot, but I guess thats how the Sri Lankans who use the shop like it. Sounds like a "Mutton Roll".
