Going to Lakeside today and my reward for being good is a meal out! We can never decide between these two restaurants as we like them both but PHers, which do you prefer? Or do you prefer any of the other restaurants at Lakeside?

So you've never asked any one else for an opinion?

What he said. Sorry OP but both serve underwhelming food for the terminally undemanding. TGIs especially is horrifically overpriced for the frozen stuff they serve up. Get the Good Food Guide app for your phone, it recommends within an hour of Lakeside:

http://www.bell-inn.co.uk/

'assertive European flavours are the hallmarks of dishes ranging from monkfish poached in citrus oil with orange reduction and confit Parmentier potatoes to pan fried duck breat on spinach with poached pear, rounded off with layered cherry and Baileys creme brulee'

http://www.hengistrestaurant.co.uk/

'a fantastic all round experience, with Chef Daniel Hatton taking full account of Kentish produce and supplies further afield in dishes such as oak-smoked cod brandade beignet (whatever that is) with thyme dressing, a taster of farmed venison and elaborate desserts such as iced passion fruit parfait'

or

http://www.barda-restaurant.com/

'funky Barda has plenty of street cred with its sleek, clean lines and eclectic Med/Asian food. Dinner offerings range from seared beef salad with corriander, slow braised pork cheeks or cod fillet with wild herb butter'

anyhow you get the idea. As an unashamed foodie, I think it would be a crying shame that you could end up paying £50 or £60 to eat really average frozen food in a shopping centre when there's restaurants out there with fresh local produce served up in appealing surroundings that need your cash more than some cynical chain. Just my 2p....

I'm very far from being a food snob but I do find these chains to be bland, spiritless places.

Find a nice little independently run restaurant/cafe/bar before they've all gone.

Nandos if it has to be those two. Even though I hate their pretend rustic setup the chicken's tasty. TGI's just plain nasty.

I have to confess I've only been once. Had a badly cooked, tough, steak. I've had better in Wetherspoons!

I like Nando's for what it is. It doesn't pretend to be something else. Regardless, you're in a shopping centre so you'll get to enjoy the clientele.

Nandos is not too bad, £10 for chicken, chips, drink
TGI is nasty and yet pricey at the same time. Avoid

Same here, nothing wrong with either place just to grab a bite to eat at a shopping centre.
