Okay, so ten minutes ago, in this slice of middle-England's suburban hell, the neighbours fired up their barbecue. That's before 10am.

Is it just me, or does using the barbecue for *every* meal merely serve to devalue the experience itself? I mean, if it's not a rare event how will it be appreciated?

Their kids are already out bouncing up and down (and bloody shrieking) on the now-mandated oversized trampoline. And their chickens have been crowing (not the gentle clucking you might imagine...) since 6:30am.

The bank holiday isn't all bad though: at 7am this morning the back lanes were deserted. driving The bikers weren't even out yet!

Sweet Jesus! so what if he has the BBQ on before 10am? fair play to him i say! i'm throwing everything on the BBQ at the moment. The sun is shining, why cook in doors when you can be out working on your tan.

I have just had a very nice breakfast barbecue, cooked at the village club and delivered to my door.
Bacon, sausages, fried egg, black pudding. No need for lunch now smile

You'd know biggrin

Nothing wrong with using the barbecue at any time of the day. When I lived in Australia it was an extension of the kitchen and often used more than once a day.

Surely you'd get sick of it, if it's used for every meal - even breakfast. That's the point I'm trying to make.

Indeedy. I was going to mention that but didn't really want to spoil anyone's enjoyment of barbecues.

As for the sunbathing reason, that's what people say before blistering. It's like they say red wine is good for you so people go out and get slaughtered. That's not what they mean. Everything in moderation.

Yes, will get bored/sick of it eventually (need a bit of variation).
Til that happens though - happy BBQ-ing! yum

Surely not spoiling anything but alerting to potential spoiling of future health. It's been known for years, easy to get the information.

If someone showed me that what I was about to do could potentially seriously damage my health, I'd say a very big thanks smile.

My BBQ was lit by 7am this morning biggrin

Mind you, it's a proper smoker and the Brisket will take about 12 hours.

Haven't used the BBQ yet (not had time) but usually use it loads while the weather is upto it for any meal we fancy really. It doesn't need to be the steroetypical BBQ experience everytime, I sometimes might do a join for sunday roast on it and cook the rest of the meal as normal. Bacon, sausage and egg on the BBQ is good, easy and makes a nice change when we have the weather to allow it.

Nope you dont. It's not unusual to BBQ several times a week where I am and BBQ breakfast is one of the best meals to have from it!

Now i love sunbathing, it's the whole lazing in the warm sun, without a care in the world thing, however, i am acutely aware of the risks, and usually head in doors for a while every so often to cool off. Yes it takes forever to tan that way, but as you say, in moderation

Since living in oz I have learnt a few golden rules on BBQ'ing:

1. Gas BBQ's only. None of that charcoal and firelighter bricks bullst. The only way to balance the heat and not spend 3 hours trying to get the bloody thing lit.

2. Turn your meat only once.

3. Turn your meat when the blood appears on the top

4. Never prick your sausages.

5. Buy Meat on quality not price/quantity.
