Mcdonalds new ordering system
Discussion
I use the app and then scan a thing on the wall - I think it is QR code or similar (?).
I have not had any problems with it but have stopped using it to order drinks as it isn't possible to customise the order from the app and remove ice, which you can on the touch screen inside. Don't trust the ice machines when it comes to bacteria, they are probably worse than the touchscreens.
In and out in a few minutes usually, but I've never used it to order more than one or two items...seems a good system to me given it is early days etc.

You can use the app to customise stuff. I ordered an iceless drink with it the other day.I have not had any problems with it but have stopped using it to order drinks as it isn't possible to customise the order from the app and remove ice, which you can on the touch screen inside. I had to wait that long once for a pair of fresh double cheeseburgers, was during a half term at lunch time. it happens.
What bothers me about the touch screen thing is you can't add extra sauce or bits like extra onions/gherkins. So i have to do it at the normal counter.
Go at the right time and they're very quick. the new sytem is kind of odd, feels alot like you're stood around waiting in argos for an item.
You can add stuff/ take stuff away. Press customise after selecting the food. What bothers me about the touch screen thing is you can't add extra sauce or bits like extra onions/gherkins. So i have to do it at the normal counter.

It doesn’t allow you to add something that shouldn’t be on there or more of something. It just allows you to remove stuff and then re add it if you have made a mistake Although actually I couldn't add for example onions so I see what you're driving at, there are a lot more options than people think though!

The machines at your store must be using a different type of software then. I could add bacon and extra cheese to a Big Mac the other day.
I travel around a lot and every one I have ever used just shows you the ingredients that is on as standard and allows you to remove. Strange!Visited a local one recently with a couple of hungry teenagers in tow. The next system seemed to work brilliantly, place was heaving (half term) but didn't wait more than 5 minutes and that was with two out of three burgers being non standard.
The last time I ate a McDonalds was about 4 years ago, I had a Big Mac. This time I tried one of the new signature burgers, the spicy one. I was pleasantly surprised, it wasn't bad. but ISTR it was circa £4-5 which is a fair amount for what is a pretty small burger.
I can imagine the carnage if the system goes down on a Saturday evening.

i sooo need a double cheeseburger now. Not a fresh one, but one thats been under the heat lamps for a while.... allowing burgers and cheese to become one and the bun to glisten from the grease of melted cheese!!
all for £1.20

I wonder if it’s different for different items. I never buy Big Macs or anything off the standard menu I only buy the signature stuff or the special editions stuff like the burgers of the world that are on now. Will check out the basic menu stuff next time I’m in.
Ah, now that may have something to do with it, because I rarely eat McDonalds at all, and when I do it’s because I’m craving a Big Mac or a McChicken Sandwich. skilly1 said:
One downside is the charity pots don’t take as mush cash as everyone is using screens and contactless. I used to always put change in there.
Great charity to support so I still try to if I have any.
The rise of contactless has been identified by charities in general as a real issue for exactly the reason you state and income has fallen. A few years ago they campaigned against a proposal to get rid of small coins under 10p due to a fear of losing money but contactless and self service have hurt more than anything. Great charity to support so I still try to if I have any.
