Chaps, I am going to be getting hitched later this year and we've been trying to find some music that my intended can walk up the aisle to and we are struggling a bit to find something that feels right. So I thought I would ask here for some inspiration!

We have a couple of things we are using for guidance -

  • The music needs to be slow enough for her to walk sedately to
  • We were looking for something contemporary, but would be open to suggestion on something classical.
  • Music needs to be in keeping with the event, so no music about lost love, suicides etc etc however lovely it may be smile

We used Music O' the Spey, which is a charming piano piece.

However, my m-i-l used it for her wedding and we played it at her funeral last year. It's a bit of a family favourite (they're all jocks) and my missus wanted it.

We also used Light and Day by the Polyphonic Spree during the service, but it's now somewhat tarnished by being used by Sainsbury's in their ads. Throw in a bit of Need Your Love So Bad by Fleetwood Mac while the register was signed and L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole for going back up the aisle at the end. The latter is an absolute belter of a song for a wedding (but way too quick for the way up!)

Thanks Alpha! We have a walking out music (Muse, feeling good), but I liking the idea of Nat King cole for either arriving or even signing the register, the Fleetwood mac one may well have a place somewhere too.

Louis Armstrong's "We Have All the Time in the World"? (Got to forget the Bond film connection.)

Oh... er... contemporary or classical... redface William Orbit's Cavalliera Rusticana: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHdgKsKfMq8 - synthy-but-still-taseful. There's an even better track on that album but it's about a dead princess or something, so probably best left.

we used an instrumental song from the "chicago" soundtrack because we werent brave enough to use our other choices of "you love us" by the manics or Lemar's brilliant version of the Darkness' "I believe in a thing called love".

Sorry, but if you need 'inspiration' for something as personal as that then I wouldn't bother! How about 'Here comes the bride' AKA the Bridal Chorus by Wagner! wink

We do have a lot of idea's, but it's interesting to see if others have a suggestions that we hadn't thought of..for example we hadn't thought of Love by Nat King Cole and thats now on the short list, Louise Armstrong is also getting the thunbs up smile

Lemar's version of I believe in a thin called love, and the Tom Baxter track are both good shouts...I'll chat it over with the OH tonight...thanks chaps!
