Been a while since I heard something that really made me prick up my ears. Seems to be a lot of "grey" music about these days.

Ive tried the indie ways of Artic monkeys, puppets, and assorted others, and its..........ok, nothing bad, toe tapping maybe.

Tried to get back into love with some hard rock, but that seems to be all either stupid vocals about how much the singers hates his mother or boringly FM radio friendly.

Been using last fm in the hope that something turns up, but nothing outstanding.

Am I falling out of love with music ?

For the help of recommendations, I like anything that has a guitar sound really.

I think the last couple of bands that really cheered me up were Buckcherry and Million Dollar reload.

So my kind Ph'ers - whatcha got ?

Human League - I grew up to Dare and loved it.

Just had a listen on Amazon, and the review on there said :

"They swing between Being Boiled and Heart Like a Wheel within every song, while seldom matching those heights."

Based on what I heard I would agree.

I know what you mean though, I'm struggling to find any albums that I play over and over at the moment.

Wire is ok, not a fan of 70's style stuff though.

Keep up the suggestions though.

Over the last year or so I found I get more excitement watching a covers band play in a pub than any of the big gigs Ive been.

Ive got tickets for The Kills in Oxford next week and Im really excited to see them. I love Aliosn Mossharts vocals.

Dee expus project, little known but just wonderful.

You'll think it's average but will hook you in after the 5th or 6th play.

I too have been struggling to find new stuff that excites me lately. The last album I loved was ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead's last one (Tao of the Dead) - quite prog in places (which seems to be the route my taste is going!), but it segues together nicely, with some great addictive tunes too!

Also, Amplifier's The Octopus

Not bad, but at first impressions are of a poor Porcupine Tree, have you heard PT's Deadwing album? (this band are tighter than tight}

Something to try, open iTunes or any internet radio browser, click on whatever you're feeling and randomly select a radio station with a cool looking name. May take 2 or 3 to get a decent one.

Just found (don't laugh) a really sweet Country Station in Oregon playing bands I've never heard of but am now downloading!
