Not often I venture into the music geek den, but I will for the Big Man. My wife often thinks Im joking when I tell her the reason I married her is because she plays the sax, but its only part in jest. The Big Man put the sax on my horizon and played it like the Minister of Soul he was. Think Ill ask the wife to play Jungleland in his honour.

one of my favourites is the solo in 'Drive All Night'...the way it just rips out with loads of echo, like he's standing on top of a mountain. RIP, big man. Sorely missed already.

A sad loss - not only to the best backing band in the business, but to music.

Seen Bruce and the E Street Band many times, what a sad loss. Clarence was the sound of the band, so many great sax solos.
He will be greatly missed.

The power behind the band, and Bruce's true soul mate.

Heaven's gain is our loss.

At least you are no longer in pain.

Knocked sideways by this news frown

The E Street Band are one of 'the' great bands and that is in no small part due to the Big Man............ with the loss of Danny F. and now this you have to ask the question, what future if any for the E Street Band frown

hate to argue on a tribute thread but the one on Rosalita on Live 75-85 when he does the whole band intro is superb: "do I have to say his name??? DO I HAVE TO SAY HIS NAME?!?!?!" I've been rocking that live set all afternoon. Man this was st news.

The BIG MAN was a legend, everything he did was done with passion and real deep feeling.
Everytime I have seen Bruce and the E-Street band, and thats quite a few over the years, I waited in anticipation for his solos, and never once did he disappoint. Those shows will not be the same but they must carry on.
RIP Clarence.

RIP Big Man. Thank you for the countless, wonderful moments.

Danny and now Clarence. When your heroes die, people who you grew up with, whose life and work touched you in some way, a part of you goes too. God I feel old right now.

RIP Clarence frown I saw Bruce and the E Street Band in the Milenium Stadium a few years ago and it is a night that I'll never forget. I will play Born to Run and Trapped at ridiculously high volume in your honour.

Gutted to wake up to this news yesterday morning.. had Jungleland / 10th Avenue Freeze Out / Promised Land / Drive All Night blasting out in the car all day.. You'll be missed Big Man!

My favourite Clarence Moment is the face off with Bruce at the end of Thunder Road.. here's a 1976 vintage
