I have imported guitars in the past and it works out well. I have had a couple of Les Pauls and a Fender Jazz bass from imported Japan. The cost the almost the same as to have bought them here but they were the color and specs I wanted. I would do it again

http://www.dutycalculator.com/ will tell you how much its going to cost in tax

You misunderstand. They cannot possibly be custom guitars if you import them to resell.

Just in case you decide not to go back to the other forum...

Id re-think the scam angle, if I were you.

http://www.master-guitars.com/luthier/luthier.html

These aren't cheap guitars.

However...there's also this site...

http://www.bizearch.com/company/MASTER_Guitars_co_...

who seem to be trading off a very similar name. Based in Los Angeles, China(!). And with a turnover between $10,000,000 and $50,000,000 and less than 5 employees, they must be doing something right.

Don't touch; you'll get burnt.

Master brand guitars are marketed through marz guitars and have been made for and sold to, among other famous names, wes borland of limp biskit (multiple 'cremona' models) and jimmy page (arpegionne' model w/bow).

We are always striving for the very best possible playability, quality and value at all price points and our near perfect '10' ratings for all master guitars on the harmony-central website shows that other people agree regarding the quality.

George gorodnitsky has also worked at a large guitar factory in china and is personally responsible for the designs of many guitars currently sold under the 'sx' brand name.

Sorry I'm confused how are the two the same thing? one is a cheap factory model made in 1,000's in China, the others are purporting to be one off custom designs hand made in the US by a Luther.

Tell you what, just ignore what everyone here has told you, and carry on. You plainly know more than the assembled ranks, and we're all talking out of our arses.

If you're too naive to spot a con when it's both staring you in the face, AND being pointed out to you by all and sundry, you probably deserve all that comes your way. Good luck.

The George guy IS a well known Luthier in USA by all accounts,it does appear that he has a cheaper range that are being made in China to appeal to the masses.

It would seem to be obvious that $3000 guitars are not selling well in the present financial climate, that is why this is occurring.

I am not altogether happy about this at the moment,so I have taken on board all your comments,I am not pig headed.

I have emailed a lot of questions to him,so will see if it comes to anything.
If I'm honest I think its a dead duck.
