Is vinyl worth anything these days?
Discussion
I have four boxes of records (probably 300 or so records) in the loft, nearly all from the 80s, mostly Hip Hop and House, some Pop. Mix of albums and 12". Would I have to sell it individually, should I sell it as a job lot or should I just take it down to the tip? Given that the biggest second hand record shop in Europe was right here in Croydon and shut down I'm guessing it's not worth much these days.
Entirely dependent on what you've got. Obviously, common stuff won't be worth much but anything a bit rare might be worth a few bob & upwards and it isn't always straightforward to determine what is and isn't.
If I were you, I'd spend a little time on Ebay and something like the Discogs market before I gave them away to the local charity shop.

Dont throw it out!
Ebay it and someone will want it.
Problem with vinyl is that its £12 for a new single, whereas on CD that same single is £3 or £1 for download. Very few people DJ with it and not many people want to spend time going through records like they did 20 years ago on a friday afternoon. Its a sad state of affairs really, I would love to have an up to date record collection, but to replace all my music by vinyl would bankrupt me - as it is for the price of 1 record I can buy a CD with 20 tracks on.

Cameo Auctioneers near Reading do music and memorabilia sales once a quarter. Maybe see if they'd be interested in selling it for you, if you want to sell the whole thing as a job lot and save yourself the effort of listing each individual item on eBay? I expect other auction houses would sell that kind of thing as well.
Could give hard to find records a ring see if they would be willing to buy it
