What strings come on APX500?
Discussion
I'm an idiot and managed to snap a string on my APX 500. Does anyone know what strings they come fitted with? I'm perfectly happy with how it normally sounds. The only help Google has provided is a vague reference to Martin 80/20 Bronze .011-.052 Custom Lights, but I can't seem to verify that.
I'm going to email Yamaha but I'm not expecting a quick response - but I need one, as I've got a *sort of* gig in a couple of weeks and don't have time or funds to experiment with different strings.
Anyone know what they come with?

It's likely the shop you bought it from changed the strings before they sold it - I'd be annoyed if they hadn't frankly. The Martin 80/20s are good strings/ (usually what I stick on my acoustic, and that gauge too)

Cheers. Short term I've fitted a replacement I happened to have (D'Addario EJ16 Light .012-0.53 it says on the packet) and they sound too tinny/jingly and not as clean as what was fitted. Will the Martins be a bit smoother?
How old are the strings on there? If it's any more than three weeks or so you will find a new string sounds noticeably brighter than the ones originally on there. davepoth said:

They're a couple of months old, I'm just not keen on the EJ16's in general for the sort of stuff I'll be playing. Have ordered those Martins as I need something quickly, and if I'm not happy with them I'll pop back to the place I bought the guitar and see if they can remember/work out what was fitted.Gassing Station | Music | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
