Firefest 2011 Nottingham

I was at the Firefest 2011 Nottingham. It was AWE(wait for it)some!! All of the bands were great! The croud was from all over the world, but interestingly enough I didn't meet anyone in the audience from Nottingham.
I didn't have tickets per se', I had passes at the will-call window, so I didn't realize that the show started so early. Therefore I missed the first day. My apologies to "Serpentine","Houston","Terry Brock",and "Jim Jamison". Since I Didn't hear them, I can't review them. I'm sure they were excellent.
On day two, all of the bands really cranked out the Melodic Rock! I esspecially enjoyed "W.E.T", "Silent Rage" and "Steve Augeri". When Steve and the band played the "Journey" set of songs they literally brought tears to my eyes and a lump in my throut. Especially the song ,"Open Arms".
On day three, the day started with "NeWMan" and "White Widow". I wasn't familliar with these bands, but throughly enjoyed them. I was really impressed with Swedish band "Alien". Their Guitar work and vocals were top notch! "Kane Roberts" and "Mitch Malloy" went on to totaly kick my ass with their music! Mitch was called back for an encore and killed. Next was "Coney Hatch", who gave a powerful performance, leading up to the much anticipated headliner "Unruly Child". After having read the reveiws of their recorded music, many of the reviewers said the same the things, "Their music is well writen, performed and pollished,but they will never be able to perform this live!" Listen for the crunching sounds as these reviewers eat their words!! Not only could they perform their songs live, they sounded better live than on record! The croud sang along to almost every song. After their second encore, the croud was still cheering.
All in all this was a momentous and memorable concert. The love and comeradery was nearly palpable. I don't remember hearing a single angry word or see any anti-social behavior whatsoever. I stood beside a three generation group of fans, and you could tell that all three were happy to be there! It was like Woodstock without the public sex and drugs! Even though I really couldn't afford this trip, I'm realy glad I went!
