Don't have to be held in high regard by the critics but everyone has a couple of albums that came along at a particular time and blew them away.......what were yours?

Mine:

Buffalo Tom - Let Me Come Over

Fugazi - In On The Killtaker

Two albums that came along for me in the early 90's and released the stranglehold hair metal seemed to have on me

Apollo 440's Millennium Fever taught me that rock and electronic could intersect without being a novelty.

My musical world was turned completely upside down by the original Grindcrusher compilation.

The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld persuaded me that there might be something to this ambient malarkey.

Absolute cliché, but I remember the day very well the first time I heard The Wall.

Although this was admittedly years after its release.

Green Day - American Idiot

I think it was bold and went mainstream enough to change that type of music anyway. scratchchin Maybe.

The first Portishead album was astonishing when it came out, still sounds incredible today.

Screamadelica too.

Some good shouts so far, expecially 'In On The Killtaker'. Others for me:
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Obituary - Cause of Death
Ministry - Psalm 69
Sick of It All - Just Look Around

Yet another cliche - Nevermind but........

Oh......Nearly forgot......I guess Slim Shady or The Marshall Mathers albums changed things just ever so slightly too.

Black & White - The Stranglers
Germ Free Adolescents - X-Ray Spex
Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division
Raw Power - Iggy & The Stooges
Safe As Milk - Captain Beefheart
White Light, White Heat - The Velvet Underground
Masters of the Universe - Hawkwind

Finally, popping a pill at a London acid techno rave, wow! That really changed how I heard music. hehe

Definitely this along with:

Faith No More - Angel Dust
Leftfield - Leftism
Neurosis - Souls at Zero

And at the time, it being the first Orbital album I heard, The Middle of Nowhere.

Just reminded me, Neurosis - Through Silver In Blood and Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk

ETA also Turmoil - Who Says Time Heals All Wounds?

Master of Puppets and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son properly got me into metal. In terms of sitting up and taking notice after that, the two that stand out are Darkthrone's A Blaze in the Northern Sky and Disembowelment's Transcend Into the Peripheral. Still consider the former the best Black Metal album ever.

Licensed to ill by the Beastie Boys
Pretty Hate Machine by NIN
Straight Outta Compton by NWA
The Real Thing by Faith No More
Reign in Blood by Slayer
Chaos AD by Sepultura
Dummy by Portishead

All of these albums, plus a few I've probably forgotten, really shook my musical world view up.

Totally agree with Psalm 69 too.
