Matt Monro - On Days Like These

Come on who owns a copy of that song? Just because it was in the opening sequence of The Italian Job
For the younger readers, the Italian Job is about a gold heist that ............. oh just Google it.

Can I promote my own video, Son No.1 and I joined up with four other Caterhams for an eight day run around bits of France and Germany.
The music used is from the Italian Job soundtrack album.

I just dug out the soundtrack album and yes, you're right, the version on there is not the one from the film. In fact, it's not a patch on it!
(I bought the Jungle Book soundtrack the same day and some of the tracks on that are different too, and not for the better.)
It is such a shame. I've looked all over for the film version and can't find it for the life of me.(I bought the Jungle Book soundtrack the same day and some of the tracks on that are different too, and not for the better.)

What a great singer "Matt" (Terence Parsons) was.................(used to be a London bus driver)....
Most famous of course for singing the theme tune to "Born Free"....
Saw him live on stage in Bredbury, Stockport in 1973....still got his autograph somewhere.......
In 1977, Matt was appearing at the Windmill Theatre in Gt Yarmouth for the summer season on the top of the bill.

I had a part time job there as a "Lime Operator", basically, working one of the giant Followspots to the 2 evening performances.
He was great singer and what you would call "a Gentleman". I was just a 16 year old kid but he always had a word for us and the usherettes unlike some of the people lower on the bill who thought they were stars but weren't.
Great bloke.
