Top 10 tracks to drive to...

What are your top 10 pop songs? It's really hard to narrow it down to 10, so as this is PH, let's say top 10 pop songs to drive to. These are probably mine in no particular order.

1. Dire Straits: Money for Nothing (the guy can't really sing but he's still a legend!)

2. Rolling Stones: Gimme Shelter (I'm not a big fan of the Stones but I love the blues guitar on this song)

3. Oasis: Acquiesce (my favourite band of the 90s but not so keen on their later stuff. Lots of good songs on the first 2 albums but this song has a lot of the anthemic quality that used to be good about Oasis)

4. Marc Cohn: Walking in Memphis (just one of my favourite songs ever)

5. Bon Jovi: Livin' on a Prayer (it's a classic)

6. Bryan Adams: Summer of '69 (another classic)

7. Guns n' Roses: Sweet Child of mine (ditto)

8. Metallica: Enter Sandman (ditto)

9. ACDC: Back in Black (ditto)

10. Soundgarden: Shape of Things to Come (you might recognise it from the Miami Vice movie)

11. Linkin Park vs Jay-Z: Encore/Numb

12. Journey: Don't stop believing (loved the song before the whole "Glee" thing happened)

13. Kings of Leon: Use Somebody (the only recent song that I've really liked)

Damn, that's 13! Oh well. As I said, it's really difficult to narrow it down and I could have equally put some tracks in there from U2, The Foof Fighters, Aerosmith, The Killers, Green Day, The Verve and Nirvana as well. What would your top 10(ish) driving tracks be?

Personally I haven't popped my 'head unit' on for about three years. I just love the sound of my 'four pot' screaming away. However, when I did pop the 'head unit' on......my favourite tune (sorry I don't have 10 but you did have 13) to drive to is;

Actually, that could have been summarised as the entire track list from Leftfield since that never ever leaves the car, although mostly I have RJD2 and at least one of the Foo's in there too as well. The other few slots get mixed around between Anjunadeep 01 or 02 (03 less so) , Green Day, Beastie Boys, QOTSA. Not listened to GnR for ages though and don't have anything of theirs (I used to have their music all on cassette ha ha!) might have to buy some now!

Mostly a thumbs up to the ingenuity of that timing method, but also to the song. Remember cruising along in the Everglades listening to the extended version of Freebird and it just seemed like the most appropriate track for a yank tank in one of the Southern States.

Also, Sanctuary will always make me think of driving down to La Sarthe with Radio Le Mans on in the background.

So, anyway, back on topic... In no particular order, I guess mine would have to be:

I'd also be tempted to add You Know My Name by Chris Cornell, Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, Take It Easy by The Eagles and possibly a spot of Django Reinhardt if I was in France (which I quite often am at some point in long road trips!)
