Can anyone recommend any albums/compilations or are they all equally as good as one another?

ETA: it's not just him that I love, it's the band behind him. I take it they're all session musicians? The likes of Matt Murphy ? How did it all work?

The house band at Stax (where he did most of his recording) was Booker T and the MGs, although according to wikipedia Booker T didn't play on any of his records.

I'm gonna hunt out some books and music. I did like the parts of Keith Richards' biog when he's speaking of meeting up with all these guys and they trade influences/styles etc.
