I met Jim Marshall years ago through contacts with muso's I know, when he was right at the top of the game. He remained at the top for many decades.
Quite outstanding in his musicality and sheer determination to make the best amplifiers and stacks.
He undoubtedly succeeded: it was heartening to see that established folk musicians, heavy rock artists and the entire music profession had the highest regard for the man and his products. Universally recognised as the best.
The man himself was a a true example textbook of a self effacing, consummate professional. Polite courteous and ever vigilant for improvements to the product and the brand.
I doubt we will see another.

He's DIED! He wouldn't do something as namby pamby as 'passing away'!!
I used to see him sitting in his office in Bletchley occasionally (he had an office right at the front of the building with windows onto the road outside) I was always impressed with the drum kit he kept in there. Always hoped to spot him bashing some tension away, but never did.
RIP to a true great of both music and British industry.
