PRS SE Custom

My son has just blown his life savings on a PRS SE custom, tobacco sunburst, double cutaway with a trem. Considering this is a budget guitar I am very impressed (to the point where he had to ask for it back last night ).

Anyone looking at guitars at the £400 mark really should see if they can have a go on one..

He needs to do more saving Seriously, please tell us what it's like, I've eyed these up for a while. I like flat bridged guitars - never really got on with my LP because of the bridge height, so I'd be very interested to hear about the PRS.

Tremendous guitars ,I have a 25th anniversary se ,to which I added locking machine heads...incredible guitar.ive done all the les Paul's and fender stuff and to be honest I will now pnly buy prs.

Ive just put my one up for sale due to nerve damage in my elbow.Have to agree that in this price bracket you shouldnt go for anything else.Cheap guitars usually feel eh?Cheap,these feel,play,look fantastic!Quality through and through.My se custom is like a grey quilted finish with zebra humbuckers.Selling it for 280 on Gumtree.If you find one you like the look of dont hesitate in buying one.

PRS make amazing guitars. You know they're good when the budget editions are lovely!

At MusikMesse last month, I feasted my eyes upon this beauty:



Which is certainly not an SE, in fact it's a private stock. (not my pic)

They wouldn't let me play it

I know they are made very well, I played my mates some years ago but I just can't see the attraction folks have for these guitars, they are pig ugly, I could never justify spending even £100 on one. I'd have a LP over one but then I'd have a strat over an LP. Each to their own.

A PRS SE has been my guitar of choice now for nearly nine years.

Lovely thing, bought using a company bonus, perfect for my requirements. But I am very much considering selling it and getting a bit of 80's nostalgia; namely a Hohner SG Lion Pro

Only because when my step-brother (who first began teaching me guitar) turned 17, my step-dad bought him one and it played, looked and sounded the billy bks: mahogany body / ebony 'board / through-neck / EMG Select pickups / arch-top. Lovely.

Am now interested , I used to think they were just a 'cheapo' Far East replica --now it seems as though they are the real deal.

How about an Early Patrick Eggle Vienna if you want the size, Berlin if you fancy something smaller.
I love mine and the top would knock spots off most custom PRS, and at a fraction of the cost.

I think my PRS SE Soapbar is fantastic, I wish I'd had a guitar of that quality when I'd started learning

I have to say they are awesome, I have got 2 in my collection, unfortunately my LP custom doesn't get much time!

I have never played one, or even thought about one for that matter. I love my Epiphone LP Custom with Gibson Burstbuckers though, would the PRS be considerably better?

It's a more 'flexible' guitar ,but whether it's better depends on your personal preferences and what styles you play.
