That's one of the main reasons I watch it, it's great for discovering new stuff

i'm not a Weller fan, but i though the show was one of the worst episodes i've ever seen. Hopefully the Foos will make it on this series again, and i would love to see Joe Bonamassa tear his thing up on it

I have to agree.

As someone mentioned previously, it's great to see all this new talent coming through, who usually become big names a year or 2 later. And having an eclectic taste in music helps

Anything goes as far as I'm concerned. But this weeks show was pretty poor (IMHO). And like Big D, I'm not the biggest ModFather fan. Now Foos on the other hand

Weller aside I thought it was disappointing.

I'm a big Maccabees fan and tuned in to hear Pelican, but it sounded pretty poor (compare to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3xLEdeefvs), not sure if it was the studio setup/sound or if they had an off-night?

Interview with Mike Skinner was pretty pointless, the Brazilian band were a bit average, Paul Buchanan - meh, I can't even remember the names of the other 2 acts but they were really average IMO. Hopefully the guests will improve!

How can it be poor? Really? Surely it's down to musical taste?

Paul Weller was on it and I love the Maccabees, not really heard of many of the others but surely that's the whole point, it's not Top Of The Pops.

Week 1 for me was a bit ho hum with nothing really grabbing me. Last week however I thought was very strong with Jack White, Alabama Shakes and Carolina Chocolate Drops all very good. Not seen this weeks yet, waiting for Friday, but I'm looking forward to St Vincent who's usually awesome.

The Sisters covered a Stooges song.

To be fair, I was in a hotel room, on my own, feeling grumpy after a long day working away from home. It does sound similar, though on a repeat viewing, not really a rip off I guess...

Prefer the Sisters track though, less anodyne in my view...

Yeah, I mean the Sister's version of 'Gimme Shelter' sounds just like the Stones, and 'Joleen' sounds just like Dolly Parton. Ace T did specify it sounding like the Sister's version of 1969, someone could sing 'Nothing Compares to You' just like Sinead O'Connor without sounding anything like Prince.
