iPod help needed

Gents,
Here's the issue. My old man has all his music on his iPod. He has it nowhere else after his last computer crashed on him.
He got his new A5 sportback today and he would like to copy his music onto a SD disc to he can plug it into his head unit.
How would he, or more likely, how would I do this? I need it to be explained like you are talking to a 6 year old as I struggle with computers at the best of times.
