Last week, Soundgarden released “Been Away Too Long,” the first single from the band’s forthcoming set, “King Animal.”

Due November 13, the project is the band’s first studio release since 1996's “Down On The Upside.”

Will it be any good though?

Chris Cornell's voice seems to be shot these days.

(and I speak as a onetime massive Soundgarden fan)

I thought Live to Rise was average. This new track however sounds Aces.

Live to Rise was very much for the film though - CC admitted this in a recent interview, saying it wasn't indicative of the forthcoming album.

Saw them live at Hyde Park earlier in the year, and Cornell was still in fine voice.

Pre-ordered the deluxe version from Amazon....

His voice was stunning on his solo tour, but I have to admit sounded rather poor on some of their festival performances, probably over used it ,doing back toback tours.

They've been around since '84. I imagine they're all well into their 50's!

I'm a huge grunge fan and it's not bad, unmistakeably soundgarden.

I might just stick to the classics though-

Saw them at Download this year, they're new song should have been called "Not been away long enough" judging from the st I saw/heard in June.
