Led Zeppelin: Celebration Day in Cinemas Today

Just got back myself, absolutely amazing and probably the closest I'll ever get to seeing Led Zeppelin live, only thing that irritated me was a couple of "undesirables" somehow managed to get in, and were shouting and cheering like idiots the whole way through, and despite numerous people (including myself) going down to complain, they were not thrown out. Have people forgotten how to act in public these days?
Anyway, back on topic, it was amazing, Page, Jones and Plant still have it, and Jason Bonham was an excellent choice of drummer, not really anyone else who could have filled in for Bonzo other than Bonzo Jr. They've not long had a new surround sound system installed at the cinema near us, and it seems like they cranked it up to 11 for tonight.
Definitely pre ordering the Blu Ray now, along with the best surround sound system I can possibly afford.

Just back from "Celebration Day". Mixed feelings. Great concert, once they get warmed up they really still rock, Robert can still howl, and a great film. But ... not so sure about watching it in a packed, but reverentially silent, audience of middle aged blokes in Dundee. The whole Zep thing was about the cocksure, strutting arrogance of youth, somehow this didn't feel right. I really wanted someone to get up and dance, or maybe slash a few seats. Uncomfortable feeling of clinging on to the last vestiges of youth by my fingernails.

I went to see the film in Cardiff last night. I "saw" them at Knebworth, and was really a bit concerned that they would be well past it - that is why I didn't even try to get O2 tickets.
The first two numbers didn't help with my concerns, Pages' fingers were sausage-like, and Jason Bonham didn't seem to project enough. I am a drummer, who grew up playing along to JHB, and thus was expecting this.
Then - what a revelation. From In My Time of Dying onwards, the show was incredible. OK Pages' solos were not always 1st class, but his chordwork, and octaves were better than ever. Plant was excellent, his voice was really high quality. JPJs bassplaying was sensational - he's often forgotten as one of the great rock bassists I think. Jason Bonham was immense - really powerful, and really emotional.
Above all, they looked happy.
Jason Bonham was noticeably tearful after the main performance and the 2nd encore. I think he did his dad proud.
