A repeat but very good. The Kinks from Dave Davies' viewpoint on BBC4 tonight. The Kinks, just about the best band ever. One of them at least.

Another excellent music doc from the BBC. I noticed in the credits that it was produced by Julien Temple, which explains a lot. None of this crap reality show voiceover, just a bloke telling his story. I didn't realise that Dave was quite such an unhappy bunny. Sad to see, but nevertheless great to see a new point of view.

I was surprised by that as well particularly as in nearly every clip of him playing he had huge grin on his face and I always remember, when watching the Kinks as a kid, that he always seemed the cheerful Davies brother. It would have been interesting to hear more about his relationship with Ray. The press always seemed to give the impression that they were at each other's throats all the time and it would have been nice to find out what the truth was. Dave did say at the end that he and Ray talked about doing more Kinks stuff but it was Ray who was keenest.

It was well known wasn't it? There's a well worn story of Dave launching his Les Paul at Ray on stage.

Exactley. Beautifully shot, Exmoor looked eerily stunning.
