I HATE THIS SONG!

I'm not against Adele per say it's just this song. Everybody raves about its beautiful lyrics and wonderful heartfelt meaning.

It's about a girl who gets chucked by her boyfriend and turns up out of the blue to tell him how much she misses him and how she'll never find 'someone like you' again!

I like it. The lyrics aren't amazing but it feels genuine and heartfelt. It comes across especially well live. Sounds like it comes from the heart. It's nothing special but to my mind it seems honest which is more than can be said for 99% of music. I've got the album and it's pretty disappointing on the whole, though.

Not a fav song by any means, but in a world of manufactured hits and plastic stars she is a diamond. A national treasure IMO.

Not my cuppa at all, in any way, shape or form; but at least she's honest, original and real

There are only a handful of singers who can make you actually believe in what they're singing. I'd say Adele is one of them.


Luther Vandross is probably the king though. Some people just have a certain vulnerability that comes across in their singing.

Feels OP is a bit harsh. She's the best singer to come out of Croydon since Kirsty MacColl. That song is a bit girlie, but still a good tune.

We do seem to have been bombarded with Adele over the last couple of years and the 'someone like you song' gets used at a drop of a hat in any tv show where they need to portray some sort of sad emotion.
Adele mania is starting to get on my tits tbh, especially seeing as this Skyfall song is just awful, my mums dog even wails along with her.

She's from Tottenham, she just happened to go to The Brit School which happens to be in Croydon along with many other well known artists including Katie Melua, Amy Whinehouse, Katy B & Jessie Jay.

Because it's good at doing so.

(Adagio for strings is even better but that's arguably a bit played out)!!!

Nearly went there myself. It came across as a proper stage school though, rather than somewhere to go just to do music... So I went to the ACM in Guildford instead. That was sh*t too. Turns out if you really want to do music you believe in you have to fight for it, not just pay for a couple of years "education."

Still maintain that Adele is decent though. Overrated, but decent.

I remember a friend of my Dad repeatedly playing it in the car on the way home from the pub when I last visited the parents. I'm sure it's the "what your parents listen to" in this case, but I just don't think she's that good.

Amy Winehouse, Sheryl Crow and the like are actually good.

In a world of produced, managed, written for, miming 'stars' we should be applauding her for the fact she can write, sing, and have her own style.

She's also given encouragement to singer songwriters in that you don't have to win a tv 'talent' show to get your own stuff out there.

She's a great singer, and like her stuff or not you have to admire her achievements.
