The Cure- 'love cats' bass
Discussion
In the video a double bass is used, but I believe that was just a prop, the video obliquely referencing the Disney film The Aristocats (everybody Wants To Be a Cat song). On the record, and having seen them live once (1989) a six string electric bass guitar was played on this and every other song. Certainly Robert Smith always wielded one of these, but he did not play bass on The Lovecats.

I really didn't want to reply " I don't know" and tried to find out.
I searched "How was The Lovecats by The Cure recorded" and although no specifics were found, this popped up:-
www.playbassnow.com/song-tutorials/how-to-play-lov...
I know that "link" won't work, cos I'm a duffer, but if you pop the same question in as I did, then you should get there.
