Music Production ... Basic Kit?
Discussion
A really quick question, but I'd like to spend a bit of time creating music ... It's always been a fascination of mine and I've created a few basic tracks on an iPad with GarageBand, but the software is really limiting. I'd like to be able to create electronic, complextric, dubstep type stuff! So fading, cutting etc
So talent aside, what would I need to start with? I have a Mac, but that's it!
Hardware? Software? Costs?
Here's some tracks that inspire me, or at least provide an insight as to what I'd like to create:
Mord Fustang - Lick The Rainbow: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoCybVlkmQs
Dillon Francis - Falling Up: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tmn752VGwBo
Any help is much appreciated!

If you have a mac and have used Garageband then I'd just look at upgrading to Logic.

Awesome! Cheers for that! Have you used Logic?
I'm guessing a small USB keyboard, like the one in the link below, would be a good addition too?

I use Garageband at home but have used Logic a few times at a friend’s house - it’s pretty good and you can produce stuff up to a very professional standard using it. I keep meaning to get my own version – it opens up Garageband files so that’s a plus.
I’d be tempted to get a USB controller with a few more keys (maybe 49) – even if you’re not a classical pianist I think you’ll end up getting frustrated with quite quickly with a short keyboard.
I have one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/M-Audio-US71010-Keystation...
And one of these

you can often pick up some bargains on eBay
It’s all good fun – and can very addictive when you really get into it.

I use Reason - love it, really easy to get going and not too expensive...
