Spiderbait, an Aussie band that's pretty hard to describe, they alternate between a male and female singer, song style varies massively but somehow are all reasonably recognizable and mostly all good!
I watched the film Without a Paddle, and at the end titles they played the song Black Betty, and normally I can't stand the song, but this version was much more upbeat. Some Googling got me to listen to Spiderbait.
I'd recommend you listen to Black Betty, Shazam, and Outta My Head, but plenty of others to choose from.

Try the first two tracks on "Swoon". Quite Smashing Pumpkins-esque.I discovered Redd Kross after seeing them perform on "The Word" (remember that?) and they then proceeded to release very little in the next 10 years and their older stuff was quite hard to get hold of at the time
All fixed now with a new album and re-issues htough
Recored shop, late eighties, having a browse, music playing was The Black Earth, an English indie/ goth band. Bought it, liked it, a lot.
Recently discovered ther was a second album, but no more. Got this on cd from Encore in Ipswich, great service.
Label is President Records, Rick Wakeman's label. They are worth a listen and free, I believe from the President Records' website

Bloody love this band! Saw them on Jools Holland 1st, then in a small Pub in Southampton (The Joiners) where they played as a 3 piece as the keyboard guy was ralphing up outside!All 3 albums are ace, but favourite tracks are Future Foe Scenarios and Twisted Wheel
Why they're not bigger is a mystery.

Asked the guy behind the counter "what the hell is this!?"
He replied he'd been playing it all day, waiting for someone to ask so he could say "beers, steers and queers by the revolting cocks" to a customer without getting sacked!

A housemate of mine used to buy the 'Crusty Demons of Dirt' videos - basically films of mentalists on dirt bikes in the US doing some crazy jumps and stuff. The vids were great, but the soundtracks were awesome, mostly US West coast punk rock stuff.
So from those videos, I've bought albums by people like NOFX, Bad Religion, The Adolescents, Ministry, No Use for a Name, Pennywise, Agent Orange etc.

They didn't write enough strong songs is the cold hard truth. These things are subjective & I do love TB, but I've bought every album they ever made & always concluded that well over 70% of their albums are filler.Handed out demo cassettes (shows how long ago) from the Optimist album, still one of my all time favourites.

Reuben- fairly obscure when they were first played 6 or 7 years ago in my then local club. Check out "lets stop hanging out". Sadly now broken up, produced 3 quality albums. Kinda somewhere between metel and punk, but with melodic overtones.
I thought I was fairly obscure for listening to them, and then I gave a girl at work a lift to the shops one lunchtime. She spied the CD sleeve; "oh this is my cousin's band..."The Blue Aeroplanes. Read a review & it stated they had 4 guitarists all hammering away at once. I was quite interested to here/see what that would be like so took myself off to Doncaster's finest live music establishment (RIP The Jug) & was pretty much blown back out of the doors with the racket....but what a fine racket it was. This would've been around 1989.
