I normally hate cover versions especially of rock classics but that was excellent. Yup lots of damp eyes there!

Nice, but for me the guitar lead was disappointing. He either deviated from it or forgot how it went under the pressure, and then left out a large section.

Ann Wilson one of the voices of rock for the last 40 years, Heart have been doing Zeppelin cover versions from the Mid-70s. Ann's voice has remained in good form for all her career. Heart deserve a lot more recognition in Europe.

cracking many thanks smile

Nancy (got the wrong one) is a great guitarist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gpNqB4dnT4 I'm sure the pistonheads masses will find better versions, however she's cracking.

I hate it when they leave out every tenth note!

Well if its good enough to move the guys who wrote it to tears, who are we to criticise.

I loved it and its now in my i-tunes library - many thanks to the OP for his post without which I never would have known this existed.

I think it's a powerful version but I find the arrangement grating. Not for me.

And it was certainly good enough for Jason to get involved. The guitar solo was fine .. bearing in mind that no-one is going to match the original and that the author was watching!

Some of these comments remind me of when I was playing in a two-bob country band many years ago. The lead singer was moaning I hadn't nailed the tone of the Hotel California solo.

I said words to the effect of: "If I could play as well as Joe Walsh and Don Felder do you think I'd be pissing my talent away for £10 a night in stty pubs with you lot?"

Have you never heard Page himself play it live? It's painful!

I agree. I wasn't happy with that either!

It really does annoy me when the stars themselves or other guitarists can't be bothered to stay true to the tune.

The Stairway to Heaven lead isn't that difficult, it doesn't need a guitar God.

Here's a kid in his bedroom with a very nice rendition http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ILZV0Eg4yo&fea...

Enjoy it.
