I'd go along with that. Saw them a fair few times with Hugh Cornwell and once after he left in the early '90s and it was like seeing a tribute band.

I'm a bit biased, but generally they're on a bit of a renaissance at the moment, both in the live and recorded work. There's plenty of youtube footage from the last couple of years that would back that up. Jet's getting on a bit now and probably won't be playing the full set on the tour, but the stand-in drummer is probably indistiguishable when you're at a gig and he's sat behind the kit.

I'd recommend them to anyone who likes a good live rock band, really.

ETA: The live performance is a lot different now they're back down to a four-piece band. A lot of people didn't enjoy having a singer who didn't play an instrument as it left him a lot of time with nothing to do during the instrumental bits. If you saw them with Paul not long after Hugh left, it will be nothing like that.

Excellent gig in Liverpool last night, first half with Jim Mcauley on drums as Jet is not back to full fitness yet, he came in for the second half of the gig and we had both drummers for the final track, Tank. A good mixture of old and new tracks, venue was almost full from what I could see (which wasn't much as I was in the front). Already looking forward to Manchester on the 30th.
