Having still got most of my vinyl record collection not too mention piles of CD's I spotted this program earlier on BBC4. I felt it was interesting viewing though I didn't agree with everything that was said!
With Danny Baker there was Kate Mossman, Stephen Street and Jeremy Clarkson.

As I just posted on the TV forum, any programme that starts with clips of Magic Bus and Young Man Blues from Live at Leeds is OK with me. I haven't seen the whole programme yet but I think Clarkson was saying Who's Next is the best Who album. It is a fantastic album and better than anything anybody else has produced but Quadropheni is THE best.

Just watched the first one on the iPad whilst the second is being skyplussed.
It's great when you find these little gems of television that you just sit and enjoy that don't pretend to be anything that they aren't. In this case it helps that I am a child of 1960 and the emotions and dreams talked about I recognise so easily. I shall look forward to the next couple of program's.

I just watched the second programme tonight. The BBC really do some excellent stuff on BBC3 and BBC4 (and for that matter Radio 6 and Radio 4 Extra), far better than the mainstream channels. You can tell that the people behind it actually have a passion for their work.

Watched the "File Under Rock" episode last night. Best 60 minutes of tv I've watched in years! So good that I sat there with a smile on my face the entire time. I even had a little cheer when Danny pulled out A Wizard A True Star and claimed it to be his favourite album of all time, as I am in agreement with him on that!
Great guests and the most calm I have ever seen Clarkson on a tv show. Congratulations to BBC Four for making programmes like this that don't just pander to the mainstream - Zappa, King Crimson and Coliseum in the Top 12, alongside Bowie, Supertramp and Fleetwood Mac.
Looking forward to the other two episodes, but this episode is more my music.

This is not the thread to debate it but I do give a little cheer when people support and applauded some of the stuff that the BBC turn out. I get fed up with the violent objection to paying the licence fee that is expressed here at PH. I watch this, some other stuff on BBC 3 & 4 plus a bunch of podcasts, compare it to my £70/month sky payment and think what bloody good value the BBC is.

He kept talking about it as if all of the post 80s kids didnt have any interest in complete albums, that music was musak for the young people due to the use of internet music sites, nor that young people had any knoweldge of musical history.

Loads of great albums can be listened to on spotify or even on youtube.
Theres no need to buy and album then decide of you like it any more, I can listen to vanilla fudge on youtube, then decide if I want to own the album.
Ive listened to loads of awsome, really awsome albums on youtube, the sound quality may not be superb, but the music is good enough that this doesnt matter, you will still be moved by the album.
Its more the idea that 'young people' dont like albums that I have a problem with, the assumption that all people under 40 want a quick fix of 3 minutes, we dont care enough to sit down and appreciate a full peice of work is just false.

We have said the same thing, music is free now. Hence the reason why the statistics are false.
Dont use Stewart Lee, he would understand that the sales of albums has gone down not due to lack of interest but due to the vast amount of free music online.
