Mothers Milk - good
BSSM - Very good
I have been to see them live twice and both times I though they gave the sound of 4 men hitting middle age. I was expecting them to come on beating their chests and do some rompin' and a stompin' so went home rather disappointed.
And -By The Way- is very very good, in fact it's there best work to date although I do still love BSSMBSSM - Very good

First time I watched them was 94 with Dave Navarro and this was a great show , they are getting on a bit now but still making great music

Can t stop is my only favourite song.
Give me Foo Fighters, AC/DC,Linkin Park any day and that includes radio friendly Nickleback
Been listening to all types of music for nearly 35 yrs and , no offence folks , apologies etc , RHCP are utter dreary fake disjointed rock -they are utter crap- i despise them with other rock fraudsters such as MUSE and Green Day - IMHO.

BSSM is a masterpiece. I put it on a few times a year and love nearly every second of it.
The stuff since I haven't liked too much. They grew up and matured a little, which didn't result in music that I liked (a bit too bland now), though there were some good tracks on the last album.

How many tines have you seen chilis live?
I'm biased as I'm a big fan, and have been fortunate to work on a couple of their tours.
99.9% of the time their live shows are mind blowingly good. All 100% live, none of this auto tune crap, and they don't rely on a huge stage/set to make them look better!
4 talented blokes IMHO.
B s s m and by the way would be my two favourite albums.

I must mention great welsh rock such as The Alarm, FFAF, Lost Prophets and Stereophonics (who i originally hated)
I often wondered if Rock fans are strict genre based - because i can switch from heavy rock to some easy listening from The Carpenters!
Great, great music.
A fabulous blend of rock and funk with amazing riffs and deep lyrics.
The best band, IMHO, to listen deeply to through headphones.
The songs and musical production never fails to amaze me each time I listen to them - always find something else in each song not heard before.
I knew about them in the late 80's but at the time I was into a slightly different genre.
Only in the past 5-6 years have I listened to them properly.
'Can't Stop' seems to be a favourite of mine, but Californication is a great singalong in the car!

I'm aware they are one of the best live bands - but their type of rock just doesn't do it for me - but there are other big hitters like Iron Maiden , Judas Priest ( although "Old to be Wise is" one of the great rock tracks ever) Zeppelin who just don't do it for me - maybe i'm just a tad too fussy about my rock!

I'm the same, I can switch from chilis to knoplfer to faithless to massive attack, all horses for courses I guess.I must mention great welsh rock such as The Alarm, FFAF, Lost Prophets and Stereophonics (who i originally hated)

I do prefer RHCP earlier stuff liked the blend of funk, rock and rap but there are some gems on later albums that never get released, wet sand and Venice queen spring to mind!
Never thought I'd hear the words deep lyrics and RHCP in the same sentence!
I like em and have 5 or 6 of their albums but sophisticated they are not IMHO
Got in at mothers milk and BSSM like most but found later albums to be more long-lasting especially By the Way
Fun and funky but a bit shallow and trashy sometimes, and always better on record than live

Big fan here, BSSM is my all time favourite album. Everything about it fantastic from the frenetic 'Give it Away'to ballads like 'I Could have Lied' just think its a perfect albumn though no doubt a lot will not agree.
Also like a lot of their really early stuff as well and another great track that a lot of people may not have heard is 'Soul to Squeeze' which is great but was never on an Album, its on Spotify though and is well worth a listen.

Sorry - greatly over-rated in my view. Like Hendrix, I doubt that many people play their music on very often. Buy it, play it a couple of times but that's it.
I play there songs every single day from getting up, to going to work and back again. Almost everyday I mean I adore them and its a plus that the girlfriend loves them too!Gassing Station | Music | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
