I've got a collection of around 300 trance, house, and various dance genres (inc some D&B, electro, garage etc) from 1998-2005. I haven't owned a pair of decks in about 8 years and likely never will again. I've always held onto the vinyls just incase but the just sit under the bed, taking up space.

I purchased a USB turntable to transfer them all over to digital format but I did about 10 and have never gone back to carry on. Must be atleast 200 hours of music there to record and I just don't have the will or time to do it.

I've tried selling them a number of times but never really gained much interest.. well, thats a lie.. I've always gained a hefty bit of interest but never anyone actually willing to pay sensible money for them. Must have cost me atleast £1500 over the years collecting these and they have pretty much zero value these days so I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I will just have to keep them (much to my missis' annoyance) or give them away...

The collection is made up of mostly trance/house, featuring some huge names and mega classic choons. Loads of white labels including some that were (up until a few years ago) highly sought after by the likes of HTFR.

So does anyone here actually have a use for them? I don't want to give them away for them to just sit under someone elses bed, collecting even more dust etc. I want them to be used! Anyone?

Damn got there before me!

If there are any duplicates/unwanted tracks you don't want though Don I'd most definately be interested.

I've got a couple of hundred trance/house records from the early 2000s and still avidly adding to the collection- and regularly spinning them too (as recently as last night in fact!)

Not replied yet, sorry.

I'm gonna have a go through and make a list of whats there I think. Might want to keep a few as well to make into some kind of awesome wall art but otherwise, I will be in touch. Need to be able to collect them though!

Looking to shift mine, too. Starts with Hip Hop & Acid stuff from '88ish, ends up on Big Beat Positiva from around '97 or 8. Labels inc ffrr, slip n' slide, hooj choons, strictly rhythm, cleveland city, tribal, lots of white label. 200-odd discs (not including a few 2 & 4 disc sets) in all. Contributions would be welcome if anyone interested...?

I'd certainly be interested in seeing a track list of the dance stuff (particularly any Positiva/Hooj Choons stuff) if that is at all possible? (Not too fussed about the hip-hop). smile

Hello Woeful Squirrel,

Thanks for the response! I'll try & put one together in the next week. Hip Hop stuff is one-off stuff like first UK pressings (I've been told) of "White Lines" and "Paid In Full"... Just like that Alfa 33, they seemed like a good idea at the time...

I have absolutely no idea why I posted that, or to whom it could possibly be of interest.

(Always wanted to say that...)

Mystery Lemon, where are you at with your cull? I appear to have hijacked your thread, which I did not mean to do. All initial enquiries should be conducted through ML?

Haha, hijack away. I've not started anything yet.. had too much on and working overtime at the moment so not going to be just yet. Need to decide what I want to keep first. Thats the hard bit.

Been a while but thought I would bump this.

Finally got around to sifting out what I want to let go and what I simply can't part with. Spent the last few nights making a list and reminiscing and here it is...

censored

Half expecting them not to sell. Other collections on ebay don't seem to have many bids, if any. In keeping with the original post, anyone willing to take them off my hands and actually use them if they don't sell? I dont want to give them away for someone to make money out of them.

ETA

nono not allowed as it's deemed as advertising and not allowed, re rule of posting no.4

Just read through this and was looking forward to reminiscing over a list from my youth... I'd have no intention of making any use of them so it has no advertising value to me, slightly over enthusiastic modding? Can anyone with a pm'd list post it here? Ta!

I bought mine off ebay used for about £25 a few years back now.. always with the intention of recording the collection to MP3. Managed about 10 tracks and got bored as it all has to be done in real time...

Being dance music, the tracks are long and the remixes are plentiful. Assuming 300 records each with 3 tracks of approx 7 mins long... That's 105 hours worth. 105 hours of sitting there through each individual track. Seems a good idea in theory but when you actually look at how long it takes, is it really worth it?

Will PM some lists now wink
