Has anyone worked with or know of a really cracking backing band?

I find some backing musicians make certain tracks have more umph! than the lead.

Listening to the brass on this; damn, they are so good.

Or Clare on the Great Gig in the Sky.

Any other artists you admire?

I remember watching a tv gig of Amy Winehouse a few years back.

She was off her face, but the band behind her were really impressively tight, and made the gig.

yes Tightest rhythm section in all creation. Booker T & the MG's take some beating. They played on everything.

Wandering around Youtube the other day I stumbled upon a Link Wray performance from the seventies. Look who's drumming & moreover listen to that beat. smile
