OK - apart from something fairly harmless coming out of the Korean peninsular, I don't get it!

Any fans out there?

It's the Korean version of stuff like Barbie Girl, or any number of equally 'forced' music to hit the charts. Still, it is harmless.

It's mindless pointless drivel, pushed by the wonders of Social Media (tm) so that every Jagerbomb-fueled halfwit has to declare it is the best thing ever. The sort of music that ruins a night out.

All about timing and location. It's hardly gong to end up in the Music Hall of Fame but along with other similar rubbish (Macarena, Mambo No 5, YMCA....etc..) stick it on at any party and it'll fill the floor.

Actually, YMCA is an excellent pop song, brilliantly written and played with great orchestration. (I'll get my studded leather coat)

Psy belongs in the same infernal pit as the creator of Mambo No 5. Also Peter Andre, DJ Caspar, Whigfield and Aqua.

It is possible to write a great party song without it being so pointlessly derivative and reliant on a stupid dance. But is is a lot harder...

You may be getting the impression of how I feel about this type of artiste. However, I agree that YMCA is very well written in spite of their gimmick outfits. Similarly some of ABBA, whilst not my thing at all, is great pop music. I don't see Gangnam lasting as long.

That's exactly it!
It's a shame some people don't figure out when to stop when they are a one hit wonder.
I'd have thought it would have been fairly obvious.
